Spring Wedding Flowers

Spring is such wonderful time for weddings…the days are finally getting longer, the gardens are bursting into bloom, and the season always feels full of fresh, joyful energy.

If you’re planning a spring wedding, choosing seasonal flowers will not only make your arrangements look incredible, but it could also help to keep costs down and ensure your blooms are at their very best.

One of my favourite spring weddings last year was Rosie & Pete’s. It was such a beautiful day at Deer Park in April and the venue was one we’d not been to before. Rosie’s vision for her wedding flowers was quite simply “colourful”, and that’s exactly what we delivered, a van full to bursting with colourful blooms!

A Joyful Explosion of Spring Flowers

For Rosie’s bouquet, we embraced a true rainbow of blooms. Think bright pinks, sunny yellows, deep blues, rich purples, and pops or orange, all carefully arranged to give an effortlessly romantic feel. Rosie wanted her bridesmaids to have equally beautiful bouquets, just slightly smaller, to compliment her own without overpowering their dresses.

The venue itself was stunning, seriously their decor is on point!! Rosie asked for several items to be placed throughout to compliment the setting.

  • A top table arrangement that also served as a ceremony table display, creating a beautiful focal point for two different locations.

  • A mix of pedestal centrepieces and low floral wreaths with candles to add depth and variety to the wedding breakfast tables.

  • The tall pedestal arrangements that first framed the welcome signage, before being moved to the reception room.

  • Delicate floral sprays to adorn the wedding cake, tying everything together perfectly.

This wedding was the perfect example of maximising your floral budget by reusing arrangements in multiple places throughout the day and the venue, a little forward planning can go a long way.

What You Need to Know When Decorating Your Cake with Flowers

If you’re thinking about decorating your wedding cake with fresh flowers, there are a few important things to keep in mind. Not all flowers are safe to use on food, some are toxic, and others must be specially prepared to prevent contamination.

Your florist or cake maker can guide you on which flowers are safe to use and how to attach them properly.

Some things to remember:

  • Never insert flower stems directly into the cake, they must be wrapped or placed in floral picks to avoid contact with food.

  • Some flowers are toxic, for example, lilies, hydrangeas, and foxgloves should never be used on cakes.

  • Safe flowers include roses, edible violas, chamomile, and certain varieties of herbs.

  • A professional can wire and seal the stems to make sure everything stays food-safe.

For Rosie & Pete’s cake, we provided small floral sprays that tied in perfectly with the rest of their wedding flowers, giving their cake that fresh, springtime feel.

The Ultimate HappyWedding Day Bursting With Spring Vibes

Rosie was a delight to work with from start to finish. Her vision of bright, joyful springtime blooms came to life in every detail, from the bouquets to the table arrangements. The whole day felt like an explosion of happiness, love, and celebration, the kind of wedding that just radiates pure joy.

If you’re planning a spring wedding, I’d love to help bring your floral vision to life! Whether you’re dreaming of a soft pastel palette, a fresh white-and-green look, or something as vibrant and fun as Rosie & Pete’s, spring is the perfect time to go all out with beautiful, seasonal flowers.

What’s your dream wedding flower palette? Are you team soft pastels or bold, vibrant colours like Rosie?
